I bought WinRAR. They earned it

I would buy a t-shirt that says "AM'I FREE?" at the front and a winrar logo at the back

I bought it a long time ago. Might pick one up, though, cute bag.

7 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They could have put a winrar license with it, printed on a small letter inside. So it’s a real collectors bundle edition ^^

7 months ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Why would I buy the bag when I didn’t buy the license…there HAS to be somewhere I can get it for free…

7 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Funny, but way too expensive for such a small bag.

Remind me later…

I would 100% buy WinRAR apparel from them. Not from the Internet, but from them yes.

7 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

European CaRARy-all.

7 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It should have been a collapsible (or expandable) bag

7 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Bag of holding type thing. Be an easy low effort post too. Put a bunch of books in it, let it fall flat showing the books are compressed, pull out a kindle.

*un-7zips pants* "sigh"

7 months ago | Likes 169 Dislikes 5

Un-zstandardises your pants. You'll never find the 7zipper now! Muahaha 😈

7 months ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

7-zip has mod support

7 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I'm a WinAce guy. After using it for about 25 years, I recently pondered for the first time ever to actually buy it.

7 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I read a negative review of a game on Steam where the dude said he'd rather buy winRAR. O.o

7 months ago | Likes 218 Dislikes 2

So which did he buy

Savage lol

I have a friend that probably over a decade ago actually paid for it and all l could think of was WinRARs team like: v

7 months ago | Likes 92 Dislikes 1

A while back, I got a sizeable raise at work. I was trying to think of how to celebrate, and I ended up buying two WinRar licenses - one for me and one for a friend.

I couldn't think of a bigger flex for "look how much money I have!" than that.

Trickle down software licensing.

I wish they'd make a macRAR...

7 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'd honestly 100 percent buy a full on chest or backpack styled like that.

7 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

does it crush the contents into a conveniently smaller size?

7 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm really jealous, it's not sold here in the Philippines, but I really want one.

7 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Can I try the bag for free for a bit first?

7 months ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

TBH I'm more interested in the hoodie.

7 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

$115 is something. But that picture promoting it is genius.

7 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Its $150. https://in.tern.et/en-us/products/674859675846753485

7 months ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 1

Yeah... I just saw that. Boooo

7 months ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

If they have a hoodie, I'd gladly buy one if I could :)

Who will take pity on me and give me a crumb of an explanation? Yes, I'm old and of low IQ.

These kinds of programs are called Trialware, and carve a market niche out due to the fact that businesses and government entities using them have to buy licenses or face slam-dunk court cases. By being otherwise free, they become the defacto standards for personal use, leading to widespread official use.

WinRaR is a compression program, like WinZip (and others) that encouraged you to buy a copy if you liked using their software, but never hindered you if you didn't (unlike the early days of WinZip) and their logo is 3 booked with a belt around them, hence the bag.

BLESS WINRAR

7 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Also, it should be a compression bag.

7 months ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 1

Either with the straps like a sleeping bag storage bag or with a vacuum fitting.

7 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

As the proud owner of a WinRAR license, I figure I can skip the bag. (But it's a great gimmick and I may have to rethink my pov.)

7 months ago | Likes 64 Dislikes 1

I still have a site license from college over 20 years ago.

7 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

There’s at least two of us out there!

7 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

LGR bought one. He made numerous videos about how far the licence goes

7 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I've had mine for years now. Specifically fewer than 5 because I had to request a re-send of the license key rar file after I changed PCs, and they didn't charge me for a resend and don't unless it's been more than 5.

That is to say, COVID made lots of us do strange things. I guess purchasing WinRAR was mine.

7 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

*The proud owner of the one and only WinRAR license* "impressive, very nice."

7 months ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

mom said its my turn with winrar

7 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

We have it on our office machines. Bought it years ago as the popup greatly interferred with the screen reader my boss uses. Still using it nowadays when installing on new machines. Great bang for the buck, even though the free software is perfectly usable.

7 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I have two. Cause I bought one forever ago and years later I forgot the email I bought it with for verification and figured why not I'll be the first repeat customer.

They had a good deal around Christmas and I thought "what the hey, why should the developers do this work for nothing".

Given that the messenger bag costs six times that, I would demand that it include a software license ....

7 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I'm proud of you, internet stranger! I would agree with the inclusion of the software with the bag.

7 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It was a moment of weakness.

7 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's $ 150, fffffuuu ... https://in.tern.et/en-us/products/674859675846753485

7 months ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

It's also pretty small, too. If it were a bit more affordable and practical, I'd really like one. As it is, unfortunately, I'm too poor for that.

7 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Would make more sense for that price as a bookbag.

7 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'd have done $20...

7 months ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

If it wasn't $150, I would'a. ItIS a neat bag.

7 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Because it's not WinZIP you swine

7 months ago | Likes 644 Dislikes 3

Golly, haven't thought about WinZIP in a long time. That was everywhere, once.

7 months ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

I still remember my registration code!

7 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Uncultured swine that is!

7 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I agree but its not winbelt either

7 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

It can still archive and unarchive zip files, generally referred to as zipping and unzipping them.

7 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 65

7 months ago | Likes 57 Dislikes 1

Yeah, man. I also rar, tar, gz, and iso, fucker. Where's them icons? :D

7 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

7 months ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 1

Sigh *unzips

7 months ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 2

Getting a lot of hate. But nobody ever said they RAR’d a file.

7 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 8

Eh, idiots love to claim something is incorrect so they can feel smart. The original zipper joke worked just fine since winrar has always been able to handle more than just rar files, including zip files.

7 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 4

I mean this just isn't true

7 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

RAR and ZIP are both file formats that compress multiple files into a single archive. RAR files are generally better at compressing files, and they have additional features like error recovery and multi-volume archives

7 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

I'm well aware. But winrar also handles zip files just fine, so the zip joke works just fine.
