Just slap a torch down after you break one.

That's why you don't use a pipe, but use a chain to guide the water down.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

yea, gotta keep the gutters from overflowing

This is why I don't live somewhere that the air hurts my face

Later posts on r/DIY: "I can't understand why my downspout is so loose, pretty sure the contractor screwed up, how do I fix it?"

Making ice cubes for my jumbo margarita

I was afraid the tube was going to fall off. I would totally be the nerd who wraps a waterproof heating element around that pipe and switches it on when this happens.

What are you gonna use your ice mattock for thrn?

Ice Makers clogged again

1 year ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Really cool that the iceblocks are getting thinner in diameter. It's almost as if they planned this so the blocks would easily fall out, but I'd have no clue where to buy those narrowing pipes in the Netherlands. Then again, with the 3 days a year with proper freezing temps, we have no need for such drainage pipes.

Pan out and you’ll see the guy feeding the ice tubes into the short gutter

Drink ice!

I lived in NY for 38 years and I've never had to, nor seen anyone have to remove ice from a downspout before. I think you'd physically have to block it off to get water to freeze in one.

She’ll need to split them too, and gather small icicles, so the melting could start faster.

other places got it pretty rough too...

Our highest temp recorded was 122 in 1990. Last year it hit 119 in July and we broke the record for most consecutive days with highs above 110.

One thing I like about Seattle is you don’t have to shovel rain.

1 year ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

It was 93° today with 95% humidity.

1 year ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Stay hydrated y’all, drink extra air today

1 year ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

It's supposed to be 101°f on Saturday with 0% humidity. Also, 2024 could rival 2023 for being the hottest year on record... so ya know, I'll be sleeping on my tile floors.

1 year ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

So night before if you get wrecked , you can just multi task, oh cold floor get me thru the night and I won’t do it again

I thought for SURE that drainpipe was gonna fall off

Next Year.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I've HAD that happen, and spent the entire time cringing and waiting for the massive damage.

1 year ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

Hot garrote makes quick work of it.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's probably why he wasn't hitting as hard as he could.

1 year ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Stand up, support the drain laterally with your knee, swing like a golf club. Sure, you're swinging a pick in the direction of your leg, and that's how we learn to pay attention and be careful. No different than handheld work performed by chefs and wood carvers

Those sharp lateral forces can't be good

Me, a guy always looking for an excuse to add flying buttresses to things: I have an idea...

There must be a better way to do this.

Yeah, with better ergonomics

Miniature chainsaw!

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Or maybe a torch?

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Why is it in the even length segments ?

1 year ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

What do you mean? 🤔

1 year ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

it looks like, in some places, the ice was pre-cut. Much more noticible with the thinner parts that all just sorta fall out without her having to hit them.

1 year ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Yeah, that makes sense and was what I couldn't work out. They are breaking off as they hit the ground, which makes them all the same segment length.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

How can the ice be pre-cut inside the pipe?

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The length is determined by the distance from the edge of the pipe and the ground, and they’re being chopped off at roughly the same height

1 year ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

ahh right, as per another comment, it looked like they were coming out in pre-cut segments, but that's just where they hit the ground and snap off at that length then ?

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That's how it looks to me.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Boy, I know that feeling...

I just ate homemade korean bbq/kimchis for 3 days, my asshole is cleaner than this drainpipe. Prebiotic Power!

1 year ago | Likes 42 Dislikes 0

I'm literally eating as I read this and this picture still made me hungry. Just not for the food I've got haha. Looks nice.

1 year ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

That looks so unbelievably good that I wish I had the superpower to steal people's memories and live them as if they were my own.

1 year ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

coming back from Korea, nothing could compare to the BBQ I had over there so I made it a mission to learn how. Over the years I'm now at the point where mine is a better meal than what you can find in NYC Koreatown for the big $$$.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'd usually go a bit larger than this, but a cancelation brought the numbers down meaning I could trim off a meat and 2 banchan (side dishes).

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I've seen that movie

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If you boil that and then freeze it. You always have pasta water on hand

1 year ago | Likes 93 Dislikes 3

yeah, if you freeze the boiling water, who'll avoid evaporation. Otherwise it will all be boiled off when you need boiling water.
