shit

You managed to get it finished before the first accident. I remember smashing up my face on the neighbours half-built patio. Oh well, it ain't a childhood without a few trips to the ER (four for... five for me, that I remember).

For real

1 year ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

So long as they didn't fall because your shit broke, it's all good.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That’s a memory he’ll tell for the rest of his life. And he’ll remember you built something fun for him.

1 year ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I broke my arm trying to jump kick from a chair like TMNT did. The chair broke and so did my arm. kids will break limbs, its how we establish our bodies boundaries. If you gonna be dumb, you better be tough.

Congrats on providing an authentic 80s childhood experience!

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I am from that era. might as well set them up for success.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

He'll be alright. Lessons learned & shit

1 year ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Yep, that kid learned a valuable lesson.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Watch that first step. It's a doozy. And sorry. Good luck in recovery. One of my three so far has had a broken arm (wrist). She handled it like a champ!

1 year ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Lol. Drugs are a hell of a drug.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

So you're telling us you're raising a kid who (A) you like to do stuff for, (B) who plays on the stuff you built for him, (C) enjoys playing outside and (D) plays with wild abandon like a kid should? I'm sorry, I'm not seeing the part where you're not both doing a great job.

Perfect.

This is exactly the first thing that came to mind.

1 year ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 0

Same thing happened to me but I was the kid. You'll never live it down, but we definitely forgive you

1 year ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

And so a valuable life lesson is learned

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No railing?

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

With kids railings are sometimes just an even high place to fall from.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"What do you mean unsafe? It was only 12 feet off the ground!?" -later conversation with spouse

1 year ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 0

"the blindfolds made it Extra Fun !!"

1 year ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

It’s no one’s fault. 20 years from now your son will remember you built something for him, not that he broke his arm there.

1 year ago | Likes 128 Dislikes 3

40 years from now his son will be taking Ibuprofen because the weather is changing and "My arm is acting up". Still worth it, take risks, get hurt, keep going.

1 year ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Yeah i fell off my bike at 14 and fractured my elbow. I’m 45 and it still twinges when the weather changes rapidly.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Both? Both. But it'll still be a memory well worth having

1 year ago | Likes 115 Dislikes 1

Nah. My brothers and I can still recount every broken bone, where it happened, who was there, how bad it was, what the resulting treatment plan was, who caused it, and who did and didn't sign our casts, etc. Kids will remember both things.

if the truth doesnt make you feel better, lies will hurt you worse.

1 year ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Oooh, I like this one! Stealing it!

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Should have raised it better.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Life has inherent risks.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I honestly feel the bigger risk is "never having any fun ever" ... I mean, I love safety, but ....

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I agree.

That he ONLY broke his arm is now substantially more impressive!

Accidents happen. Kids are resilient.

1 year ago | Likes 340 Dislikes 3

??? it wasn't an accident?

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

FR. I broke my arm like 9 times growing up, and I’m fine now. One time, I went to the ER with a possible broken arm, it wasn’t broken….i was back later that night with a broken collar bone. Kids do dumb shit, they’re usually fine.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

except for that kid with his paper bones, sorry I was just on r/neverbrokeabone

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

*Accidents happen. Kids are proof of that.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Well not this kid he broke his arm

1 year ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Not to mention having a cast and being a cool kid for a while!

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It was no accident. Foul play is suspected.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My sister broke her arm on a kids bike. I went over concrete stairs when I was 5, and had the gravel pulled from my skull. Things happen, being there/caring is what is important. Another good tip is not to do a sudden switch from back pedal brakes to handle bar brakes, personally speaking. Always wear helmets kids...

My youngest brother broke his femur when he was just under a year old right as he was starting to learn to walk. He broke it by climbing down from our mom's lap and just landing on it wrong somehow. We both heard a loud pop, but he didn't cry. So we waited and few hours later, we were in the ER. I got pulled into a separate room by CPS and asked about child abuse. Fortunately it was just a freak accident.

They have two arms for a reason

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Shake off a broken arm and go back to playing. Now we have to take a week off for a stubbed toe or some back pain.

Speak for yourself, I still haven't figured out how to properly get 8 hours of sleep without hurting myself.

1 year ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

It's alarming how easy it is to get injured while sleeping.

1 year ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Are you a kid? Kids are resilient, but that shit hurts as an adult.. even if it happens as a kid

1 year ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

My should hurts from waking up yesterday

1 year ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

It's amazing how painful existing is in your 40s

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Your son is banned from r/neverbrokeabone

1 year ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 2

Is there a r/maybebrokeabone? I was in a bike accident once and 3 doctors couldn't agree if I broke a bone in my hand or not. In the end I opted to not have a cast and it's healed just fine.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Well try to join that subreddit and see what happens.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They got it so backwards ... milk doesn't make your bones strong, they were just too afraid to ride their bikes recklessly enough as kids ... or maybe there were not enough hills to get up to a proper speed?

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I got hit by a car while on a scooter. There is no excuse and it isn't the milk. I am just a strong-boner by nature

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

kid did not drink his milk and now has weak paper bones

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Best wishes! This is how playgrounds look in the 1950s. Stuff like this happens.

kids, come to the back yard and check this out...I call it "the Armbreaker"

The real question is will he sue

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Shit happens

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I mean, that's what kids do.

1 year ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

I honestly believe it's better to break your arm one time once, than never to have fun ever

1 year ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

eh, I've fallen off plenty of things, usually just broke what I landed on. maybe i'm unbreakable but I'm not gonna push it testing.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

If you didn't see it happen, the question is WHICH sibling pushed your son off? Or did he fall off himself?

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Watched the whole thing was more the family dogs fault.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It was the dogs fault. He jumped up onto the platform and jumped against my son who was sitting in one of those foldable camping chairs. Sucks.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh no! That's even more of an accident than something slightly more sinister (i.e., sibling rivalry).
