Nothing especially interesting happened. Well, I had a flock (or murmuration? Is that the right word?) of blackbirds fly over me and that was kind of exciting, but I just...relaxed today, and it was awesome.

Hung out with these friends for a while.

Laid in the hammock this afternoon with a cherry limeade popsicle, smelling pine needle smoke and honey and beeswax from the apiary next door, getting lightly misted by the sprinkler I had watering my peach trees, watching little flower petals cascade gently from the trees at the edge of the yard til I dozed off for about half an hour.

I'm not gloating, I'm just really appreciating the day I had. The world is shit, I'm a sane American stuck in a deeply red state, I gotta take the wins where I get them.

Good for you. I wouldn't know the world is burning (more than usual) if people didn't keep mentioning it.
AshesVonDust
Your friends are frickin cool
Mercurybird
It’s the hammock popsicle that I feel you are gloating about. I guess the back stoop wouldn’t have been as nice.. ;0)
It is only the Starling ‘flock’ that is called a murmuration.
But how cool is this fact; a flock of Blackbirds is called a cloud. But can also be called a grind. And TBH, a blackbird grind is a better reference than the one in Faroe Islands

A nice day outside in spring and mild weather is a beautiful thing.
If only we could enjoy all of our days in a hammock with a cherry popsicle.
I envy you but I o not begrudge you.
Everyone deserves more days like this. Escpecially in a world that is going to shits.
I wish for you to have as many of these days as you can wish for ❤️

I think murmurings are for starlings.

I haven’t seen a giant flock of birds in a while. I think they’re common starlings.

Good days are worth rejoicing in.

Thanks for sharing your nice, calm day! It was a brief respite from...well...*spreads hands*

You get to work, right now! Sheesh!

The feeling of contentment is the best! I’m glad you had one of those day!

Nothing sweeter than gazing up at trees and sunny skies while being gently swayed in a hammock
tatePandaLord
I’m not cool saying this “but when I was little 40 years ago” these birds would darken the sky doing their thing. I miss it

I remember one time around "87, '88, it seemed like a flock of them covered our whole 20 acres. The noise was DEAFENING.

It's not burning. But there are big problems afoot that we can't afford to be complacent about. Rest and rejuvenation should be taken where they can be found!

This is how it is done. If we can find joy in our own little world -- the one we have some control over -- then we are not being drug into the big fire around us.

Kinda looks like parts of Texas between Cuero and San Antonio. Looked like a damn fine day.

Sorta close. One state away. East of OKC area.
theskepticinme
There’s probably about 10 or more states this could be at this time of year

.... I want a cherry-limeade popsicle now.
Hawkgirl203
I want a day like yours.
LateNightBunnyParty
Outshine brand. But you gotta sing the Soundgarden song while you eat it.
MultiFacets
I'm afraid I don't know which song you mean. Sorry. :-(
LateNightBunnyParty
Outshined, of course. https://youtu.be/sNh-iw7gsuI?si=QaF_wqvMr6uSKbMj
