As a person with a few tattoos, I’ve always wondered how these kinds of tattoos with this much detail will fare over the years. I mean, tattoos soften slightly and fade over time. With this much excellent detail, I would worry it would look like mush after a while.
Purely speculation, but the tattoo is being done to cover-up the text tattoo, and it didn't quite cover up the top of the text the first transfer. She added borders for the text before applying the second time, so I'm assuming it was misaligned the first time.
No tats on me, but I've been asking about that same question for a while. What I've heard is, if it's applied skillfully and heals properly, the white or other bright inks will stay in there just as well as the others, but seem to fade more because it gives way to the natural skin colour. Kind of like a stain on a white shirt is stain-coloured. That said, it does gives a lasting higher contrast that wouldn't be there with just black/grey, and can be used for detailed texturing.
Worked tattoos for a few years, can confirm. Especially white, yellow, light blues and red. Really anything bright to be honest which is kften why youll see nicer grayscale tats still look fresh while colors often fade within a few years
I don't consider myself above scratcher status, but all of the lighter toned colors I've used have fallen out over time - specifically yellows and oranges. If you're interested in longevity of a tattoo I'd say go with a black (greyscale) tattoo with transparent color applied on top. At least then if the color falls out it still looks like something... Otherwise you're prob getting a touchup every couple years
ive had some older inks in orange fade a ton. the newer stuff, even after 10-15 years is still very vibrant. But white is all but gone. It itched like hell too for 2 years and after that was more like a bone-yellow colour which also faded. after 4 years the white doesn't exist at all.
layering colour in the same sitting is infinitely more painful too as the needle hits an open wound. Sure you can blend and get more detail/depth in colours, but not worth it in my opinion.
Makeup is the only thing that we have that is actual magic. I fully believe the internet and AI is more believable than what some people can do with makeup.
it doesn't itch until the first or second week. you can slap it to stop the itch instead of itching it. they have false skin they use at hospitals that are like a layer of plastic as well to completely seal the wound up. i am not a fan of it as if you puss a bit too much it seems to prolong. i wear it for a day or two then peel off, which hurts a lot more bu heals a lot better.
The more i learn about the aftercare of tattoos the more horrified I feel. I already have a fear of needles to start so tattoos are out of the question for me.
It isn't that bad tbh. Piercings are much worse. Aftercare for tatty is just like a sunburn really. Keep hydrated, will feel like your skin is tight for a week or so. Piercings you have to clean a lo better and more frequently, and are way more likely to get infected. also the tattoo needles you don't even see and scrapes your skin, while piercing you see the needle and it goes through your skin
5years is considered very short time tho. red, white, yellow usually fades drastically within 10 years, in 20 years they are almost invisible. But perhaps there are some cases where they last :). but thats the norm.
IF you drive extremely fast... time moves slower for you. So it appears to last much longer to everyone else. This effect works best at near light speed.
If it was anything like the shading on my much-less photo realistic tattoo, it was probably fucking agony. The line work was totally tolerable. Once she started blending, oh my god. Like a hot knife.
At the same time I'm really glad I didn't get the lines in one sitting and the color in another because I would have gone into session 2 WAY overconfident.

I wonder what that line she was having covered up said?

Wow, that is fantastic

What is the significance of the transfer being done twice? Was it just mis-registered the first time?

That's amazing work, but all of those jump cuts gave me a headache.

I wanted to give them shit about setup time and color pallet setup... but no that is some serious business.

At first, I was confused. But it's been about 14 years since my last tattoo, so things could've changed. This looks more hygienic in some ways.

I know nothing about tattooing but this is how you do it right

Or memory, according to a different comment. Not exactly a swastika, but it’s pretty meaningless.

I’ll be the first to admit I don’t know shit about tattoos, but I feel like white never lasts? But maybe the dark background offsets that

i would rather artists that do one colour at a time and two weeks between session. almost zero pain and i can fall asleep unless it's on bone.
the9mm
Yeah I'd say go with the blackwash tat and add color in a later sitting.
I have wondered about newer ink formulations tho. It feels like a lot of them are better at staying crisp and vibrant than in the past

I want to show tattoos like this to medieval peasants and see if they hang me for a witch.
DidItForScience
The phone would probably take care of that no-matter what video you showed them.

The Bible's against tattoos. So zealous Christians might hang you for blasphemy.

They'd hang you for a witch because of the way you look, and they haven't even heard you talk yet. "Medieval" is a very long time ago.

Well damn. If tattoos looked this fantastic in general I might be more inclined to get one. Also cats.
Kilo11
The odds of it lasting are very very low, specially the white ink
BernieDid911
Yeah, I kinda figured it wouldn’t look perfect for too long, amazing while it lasts
Psionickitten
Regardless, it's a cover up tattoo and it's doing its job exceedingly well even if it fades.
MadamPuddifoot
Depends on the skin. I have insane colors that have held up for over 5 years because of decent cars plus really great skin genetics.
ariania
