Blaster fire echoed behind them as the durasteel hatch slammed shut.
“We should’ve taken the left corridor!” Princess Leia hissed, her voice sharp over the klaxon blare.
Luke didn’t answer. He pressed his back to the wall and peered over the edge of the platform. Below them? A yawning shaft of bottomless air. No floor. No bridge. Just a maintenance ledge and a whole lot of gravity.
“Great,” he muttered. “Perfect.”
Leia leaned out beside him, eyes narrowing. “Got any more bright ideas, farmboy?”
Luke’s hand clenched on his blaster. “I’m working on it.”
A new alarm rang out—closer. He turned to Leia. “You trust me?”
“Not even slightly.”
He grinned. “Hold on.”
