I do like seeing other operating system desktops. Personally I am a Linux user that uses Budgie as a desktop environment. One of these days-
though I'll have to try the bsd platforms out

Down vote for VirtualBox. It's a useful tool but too many people just run Linux in a VM instead of going for blown bare metal install.

There are many reasons for running VMs that have nothing to do with avoiding "bare metal". I run a server that hosts 3 VMs for dif. tasks

It's OpenBSD, not Linux. I wouldn't wish anyone to have to run that on bare metal as their main desktop OS.
In fact, I do. On a ThinkPad X230i. And it's great!
