With things that bend I'm always wondering how long it can hold the bent shape before it will no longer bend back. So many things I fear ever bending because I'm afraid it will never be perfectly unbent ever again.

This had to be designed by someone who has never been on water. The designers were blessed by the good idea fairy, graced by daddy's money, and the yes men bobbled through every meeting. There is no other way something so bad exists.

So, you still have to hike in something that weighs the same as a boat. You have to spend lots of time assembling something that isn't as comfortable as a boat. It is also not as safe as a boat. .....who thought this was a good idea?

With the stress already showing on those seams? Absolutely not.

Videos that end too soon. Namely before he puts it in water and sinks

Thought it was going to be a sturdy tent. Kinda disappointed.

I was told this was a rare, Wondrous Item

My brother has one of these, and it actually does work! However, it's not the most comfortable, and he prefers rigid or inflatable kayaks is to it. I don't know how much he's used it, so I can't speak to it's durability

those slot and tension bars already fatiguing near failure...white stressed plastic

1 month ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I wonder how many times it can be reused before crucial parts start to flex or break

1 month ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Meh. My inflatable kayak appears easier to set up, and was likely 1/10th the cost.

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Drowning wrapped up like a piece of lembas bread is really low on my list of priorities this lifetime, thank you very much.

Looks to be about $275 on Amazon. Not sure why you'd get this as opposed to another non-folding kayak for roughly the same price. Sure, this one folds and is probably more lightweight, but there's problems with it. Eventually it's going to brittle up and you're gunna snap the folding joins, create leaky joints, etc.

Plus, while kayaks aren't the most comfortable ways to boat around, that one just... looks terribly uncomfortable.

1 month ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Portability, but to that point, there are inflatable kayaks that are more durable than this.

1 month ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

Its essentially disposable, i wouldn't pay almost $300 for that.

1 month ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Portability and storage space. They fit in a closet in an apartment. Proper hardshell kayaks are absolutely the way to go if you have the storage space for one and ability to transport it, but the various portable kayaks serve a purpose, and some are quite good. Tucktec (the one in the video) would not be my recommendation, though.

For all my range of proper kayaks, I still take an inflatable paddleboard for most casual trips.

1 month ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Lol no one here is buying it

1 month ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Shitty kayak that takes 20 minutes to assemble > a lightweight, regular kayak that won’t fall apart after 2 uses

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Wait. We don’t even get to watch him sink?

1 month ago | Likes 45 Dislikes 0

Hell NO

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I gotta wonder how much longer you can fold and unfold that before shit starts splitting apart, literally at the seams.

1 month ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Ackchyually: at the creases.

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The discoloration near all the metal fastners might do it in before the folds do

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Coming soon, to a landfill near you

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This looks like a good emergency ' my neighbor is stuck and needs help' type kayak not a bring it out every day to the water kind of kayak

And then the wind blows and you get sent backwards

Last known footage of Bob the canoer.

“How are you in water, Bob?”

“They don’t call me—well, you know—for nothing!”

Looked to me more like an unwrap, TBH.

"This thing ain't made of Flex Tape you know!"

1 month ago | Likes 51 Dislikes 0

Are you tired of canoes lasting for hours?

1 month ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 0

i think you mean disposable. while the video shows it in an overcast day most of its use will likly happen during sunny days where over a few used the heavily stressed plastic will become brittle and shatter.

1 month ago | Likes 155 Dislikes 3

Friend of mine has one of these, uses semi-regularly and has for years. As suspect as these may appear I believe they do actually last a good while.

1 month ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 1

I suspect it also depends on the level of care of the user.

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

As do most things, to be fair.

1 month ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

A bit banal, but true nonetheless.

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

they say, not PolyCarbonate

1 month ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Most plastics dont take UV exposure very well long term.

1 month ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Yep.

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Very true. But it's also possible to select for UV resistance. I have no skin in this game and have no idea if that canoe is a good product a terrible one

I have some PC roofing that have been out there for 15 years over my backyard terrace. when i walk on it, it flexes as it did when new. It feels really weird because it is quite soft. clear as glass.

Watching that plastic flex out to white had me all: https://media3.giphy.com/media/v1.Y2lkPWE1NzM3M2U1NmM0MG50NTdhZ2VyM3o5cHgxOW02anQxdHA0Zmg0NGk2N3Q1NWd5OCZlcD12MV9naWZzX3NlYXJjaCZjdD1n/pMePjXUqNNND2/200w.gif

ooh yeah, at the latches? good catch.

1 month ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Same thought, that ain't gonna last more than 1/4 a season, when even some cheap plastic kayaks and canoes can last 20 years.

1 month ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

That's why I went with Pakayak instead. Heavier/bulkier, but faster paddling boat and MUCH stronger. The gaskets are all easily replaceable, but in 3 years I haven't had a leak.

1 month ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I read that as a kind of yak the first time. *gg*

It will probably be in a landfill by the end of the year. I could see the use in this if you were a backpacker, and knew you were gonna have to travel over water miles into your trip. But you definitely shouldn't buy this to use in replacement of a tradition kayak or canoe.

1 month ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yes, Jimmy, I had the same thought, shit's gonna crack when he hits a bump.

1 month ago | Likes 98 Dislikes 0

It's gonna crack, flex, leak like a motherfucker, and flip over at the slightest lean. There's a reason why we never see footage of this thing in action.

1 month ago | Likes 48 Dislikes 0

I actually have this exact one. Its not that bad. Plastic is durable if it's made to be durable, depending on what herbs and spices you mix into it when making the thing.

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Eh, I've seen some youtubers use them repeatedly, but the tubers themselves turned out to be assholes so I stopped watching before the kayak ever leaked

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As the label says:

1 month ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Does it float? Looks like it would leak

that's what he said

noted how the video ends before he gets into the water.

This is just drowning, with extra steps.

1 month ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Tucktecs do float, but they are still the cheapest, least durable, and most prone to problems of the various folding plastic kayaks. In particular the sides are prone to developing an outward bow in the middle with use. Oru and Nortik are significantly better, but also significantly more expensive.

1 month ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 0

That basically applies to any outdoor equipment. You get what you pay for.

1 month ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Yeah.

1 month ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I've got one of those. They're good. Pricey though.

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Samesies. I wanted something that was a good paddling boat and easily transportable, but in that order, but the transportable part first.

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I've had a soft shell kayak for a long time. Reliable and foldable to a hull bag and a struts bag. But you need to mind the "rubber" lower hull (it's PVC/PU actually). It has an impregnated fabric top. And not all versions are good for high waves. But they're fun for holliday travel on connected lakes and can carry a surprising amount of baggage. You can equip a topside protection and a sail. Found a pic of one online: https://imgur.com/93jVXwx.jpg
