If you could appear as anything in the universe, from a Markoffian sea lizard to a Belzoidian flea - I, for one, wouldn't blame you if you chose to appear as John de Lancie.
But... what exactly IS he? Q, yes, but what are Q?

Note: This post is deliberately avoiding the (largely unexplained anyway) events of Picard season 2 so as to avoid spoilers.
Here's what we can say for certain about Q, as a "species":
* Nearly omnipotent
* Nearly omniscient
* Nearly immortal
* Consists of distinct individuals with distinct thoughts and feelings
* Their entire species sharing the name Q causes them no trouble, but sometimes they alter it for clarity to other species (ie Qiunn, Colonel Q)
* They have a criminal justice system
* And... capable of sexual-ish reproduction

A few points about the Q are suggested but less certain:
* They evolved from beings somewhat like us (contradicted once, but supported several times)
* That evolution to the current state occurred at least 4 billion years ago
* They can have a gender identity/sexual preference (for example, the Q quote about gallivanting around the galaxy, using his omnipotence to impress females of every species)
* They can travel through time but still experience it in a somewhat linear way
* In the Peter David novel "Q-Squared", it's established that Trelane from Trek TOS was a Q in training
* The "Q Continuum" novel trilogy goes into detail about a layer ABOVE the Q involving a being called 0 (that's a zero if your font doesn't make it clear)
* The novel "The Q Gambit" features Q vs Pa Wraiths!
And now, the named Q

Obviously, first there's Q. First encountered at... Encounter at Farpoint and brilliantly (in OP's opinion) carried into the TNG finale. Against Q's wishes, he develops a genuine fondness for Jean Luc Picard. Against Picard's wishes as well, actually.

Amanda Rogers
Born and raised human, her Q-ness (the species characteristics, not the deranged cult characteristics) only developed as she became an adult. Of course de Lancie noticed and came to mentor her.

As for the next Q...
An unusual Q - one who has decided he'd rather not be Q anymore. The Voyager episode "Death Wish" addresses some unexpected and rather intense issues revolving around "Quinn" who seeks Voyager's help in what amounts to an assisted suicide.

"Miss Q"
This Q describes herself as a long time "partner" of de Lancie's Q in the Voyager episode "The Q and the Grey". If you saw that episode and found yourself thinking that she was familiar, it's for a good reason...

Anyway, Q and Miss Q eventually perform the obscene act a few GIFs above and create Q Junior...

Couldn't agree more, Guinan.
"The Q and the Grey" was one of the few opportunities we had to meet multiple new members of the Continuum. Among them was the Colonel, who parlays with Captain Janeway to find an end to the Q war.
Harve Presnell was also known for his appearances in films such as Fargo, Face/Off, Patch Adams, and Saving Private Ryan.

Alright then. How about a couple GIFs I downloaded for this post but never had a chance to use.

I'll be real, if I had his powers I'd probably spend my time dicking around and fucking with people too.
