Sink in a medical facility that was.... socially distanced from its mounts

I had supplies so no need for a trip to the store, and it looked worse than it was.

Step 1: Turn off water
Step 2: Clean up water to avoid slip and fall
Step 3: Remove and clean fittings, trap, down pipe, and covers
Step 4: Sand, tape, and spackle wall damage

Step 5: Sand spackle and put on 1st coat

Step 6: Apply 2nd coat and mount sink
Step 7: Caulk sink and secure fittings

Step 8: Check for leaks and clean up.

From start to finish it was about 2 hours. I was asked why maintenance was considered an essential worker and with that I’ll let the pics speak for themselves. A functional restroom is critical in this facility.

Wash your hands, stay home, tell the ones close to you that you love them, play with your kids they grow up fast.

Happy scrolling you filthy animals!

The guy who fixes things is *ALWAYS* essential!

TL: Step 1, call you. Step 2 you call me when it’s fixed. Thanks OP!

Since the brackets are undamaged, id say this was due to “off label use”.

little black hooks look like "oops" faces

Thank you for your sink

I'm maintenance and the public think I'm not essential, without me making everything safe and working you lot are NOT getting treatment.

Love it socially distanced from the wall

I just started this again with my wife, she has never seen it. One of my all time favorites. Twin Peaks, if you are interested. On Netflix.

Maintenance is like IT: non-essential until something breaks, critical is said thing impacts the boss' comfort

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

"Maintenance not being essential"... I really don't understand how one could think that.

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Only a dumbass would say that. Shit would slowly fall apart without maintenance.

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

+1 for calling me a filthy animal

Oh, you like that dont you⁉️

You Are Essential.

I had this issue with the pool restroom's sink at my apartment complex. Kids kept sitting on it (or screwing on it?) and it fell and 1/2

Shattered on the floor. Had to order a new sink. Wall wasnt sturdy enough for that kind of punishment, so after mounting the new one I 2/3

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Had to build a 'cabinet' underneath it to support the sink fully just in case some idjit sat on it again. Maintenance workers ftw

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

So quick question, how the frick frack did the sink get socially distanced for the wall?

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Indiana is in the whole “shelter at home” only essential workers... saw yard crews mowing and fertilizing yesterday at a business park

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Did someone really have the bawls to say maintenance wasn't essential? I've always tried to be nicest to the maintenance & janitorial staff.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You are pretty good with your caulk.

v Found the culprit

5 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

So did it actually fall? Or could it have been lifted in a fit of rage by overworked employees?

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

No one knows... “it was like that when I walked in here” were the details I received.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

What would you guess based on the damage you saw?

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It had to have been lifted off. If it was sat on the sink would have shattered. Those mounts need about 500lbs or more to rip out.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I think yours is an essential business though. I'm a finish carpenter and we still go to work. Ontario.

I do paint repair work on cars for car dealerships. My boss thinks we are considered essential since the car dealerships are open still and

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I'm having a hard time with that logic. I am sure people can live without the paint perfect on their used car.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Please don't take this wrong but whenever I see USA construction it amazes me how flimsy the standards are. Here you could sit on the sink.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You're essential! Just had the plumber out to my home! We can't stay in without water!

and keep your fat ass off the sink

Then you have no idea what it takes for a hospital to run.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

And you have no idea how to detect sarcasm.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

As someone who works in a hospital as a Biomed, you are correct, there is no room for sarcasm or jokes at this time. This is real....

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Ditto for IT support. Shit still breaks at all those essential service companies (and hospitals!) and someone needs to fix it.

5 years ago | Likes 39 Dislikes 0

alot of the IT stuff can be done remotely though

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

OMFG. IT is pretty much the most essential thing right now for most workplaces.

5 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

As someone in the IT industry, thank you to everyone being patient with internet and technical issues its been a n interesting few weeks

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Maintenance i my work is shit £20 an hour and mostly they ducr tape shit or Jerry rig it until it breaks again

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Hotel maintenance, here, and yeah. It kills me how many things go unfixed because ownership won't pay for more than bandaid fixes.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I wish I made that as maintenance I'm in the USA and only make the equivalent to £11.50/hr cost of living where I'm at is cheap though

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That’s a problem with your mgmt. good maint ppl in mfg are worth their weight in gold

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I'm a maintenance worker, and I can say with complete honesty that most maintenance workers I've known are absolute trash at their jobs 1/2

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Most are untrained, lazy, and just there to collect a paycheck, they dont care at all about the property they work for. Of course, those2/3

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Of us who do care about our work are never valued because of the 'trend' set by others, so we get treated like crap as well

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

The maintenance i my work the ones who are good i respect i even bring them sweets or food sometimes because it can be stressfull our work

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Say it again: maintenance is always essential. If shit don’t work, work don’t get done

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This extends to automotive technicians too IMO

Well where I'm at we are essential but we have 4 levels of tickets 1 cosmetic, 2 minor, 3 major, & 4 emergency we have been told to ignore

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

lvl 1 for now and supervisor descrestion lvl 2 for the duration of the outbreak and no planned improvements work so we are on reduced hours

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Tell that to my job that has no on site maintenance because of Covid19 but we are still open. Who needs sanitation when a virus is around?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My maintenance staff is on a rotational schedule, one person working per day, and all we do is sanitize the entire property
