Pretty sure proto/primagens would get flak, and synths most certainly would get tons of flak

There is a bsckstory. He keeps a droid mixer in the back. Afraid other droids will recognise this.

Clankers? ⬆➡⬇⬇⬇

He's a bartender, robots don't drink

They need oil. Gotta lube the joints.

That feeling when you realise Wuher isn't the bad guy here...

starwars robots are clearly sentient, even when they probably neither need to or should be(deep dive into gonk droids, if you dare). LLMs by

contrast arent even AI. they are just the steroid fueled bastards of predictive text software and web crawlers. this sentiment requires you

to call a person and a rock a pebble in your shoe, and believe that it was the ROCK that you were insulting.

The difference is droids are actual ai that are mind wiped every six months to avoid developing sentience and becoming a moral conundrum, who also take up valuable space in a place they would never patron. While what people call ai now is a beefed up chatbot with no hope of ever thinking for itself, only mimicking the appearance of speech while taking up valuable space and resources in places it tries to keep you from patroning.

With age comes wisdom.

With experience and reflection come wisdom. Plenty old fucks still dumb as hell.

Nah, I don’t blame the robots, I blame their owners. Grok can buy from me but not fElon Musk

The term is toaster, get it right.

Clanker has no resemblence to the word AI gooners want to victimplay about. I'm sure that, if anything, they're trying to draw the equivalence in the hope they get to say the actual hard R slur more more, since pretty much all AI gooners are hardcore right wingers.

1 month ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

I could never use the hard R, mostly because I'm from New England.

... Are people "AI posting" now? I guess demon posting lost its luster?

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What gets me is that using the word "clankers" as a slur is a personification of the very thing that people don't want to have personhood. We do not want AI to be associated with anything that could be considered humanity. And yet we use a term that deliberately anthropomorphizes AI.

1 month ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yes. The very organic onomatopoeia "clank", that I have always associated with living things.

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Clanker, like The N word ending in a hard R. We don't use slurs for inanimate objects. We use them for humans or human adjacent things that we personify. This word was literally taken from Star Wars where it was used as a pejorative. The use of it in context to the N word especially is an example of what I mean by humanize. We humanize it so we can dehumanize it if we use this word. Otherwise robot could have become the pejorative without the racial slur adjacent component.

We... use tons of slurs and pejoratives for inanimate things? Clunker, or heap (pick one) for cars, hole (again, pick one) for a dwelling, tons of words for inanimate objects, with intent directed at their modality and structure.

We don't humanize them by using them as a stand in for a human pejorative though. It's specifically the fact that Clanker is N word adjacent (as in that's how people use and understand the term). We use words like mongrel for dog or such but we don't consider them slurs. It's specifically the fact that we consider Clanker a slur that humanizes it. It's not it's status as a pejorative. Clunker isn't a slur. Heap isn't a slur. Jalopy isn't a slur.

Jalopy, crackhouse, roach motel, Harbor Freight, rustbucket, slum, ghetto, tourist trap, deathtrap, that's all the ones I can think of right now.

i think AI sucks ass and i hate it immensely but it does concern (unsettle?) me that people are so enthusiastic about being able to use an 'acceptable slur' and parrot super racist jokes

1 month ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

like... wow, people sure are enthusiastic about getting to use a parody of a racial slur. does that not set off red flags for anyone else??? 'it's just a joke' is a HUGE right-wing tactic to normalise bigotry, and it feels tone-deaf with the best of intentions

1 month ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I didn't mind clanker and toaster much when they were just an old Star Wars and Battlestar Galactica joke, now it's closet racist shit.

1 month ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I'm not going to feel bad using a slur against something that's actively making the human race stupider.

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

you are missing the point of 'people are taking this as an excuse to use phrases and jokes that originated from actual real racism against actual real human beings'

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

just to make a counter point: racists will do this with anything. if you cater your language to what bigots cant turn into slurs, you will

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

never be able to speak at all. your point about how fast people are are adopt a parody of the n-word is one i share, but this is important
