There's nearly 200 years between Einstein and Newton, and being German, Einstein's education in math more likely came down from Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz by way of the Bernoullis and Euler.

Also, fun fact, Newton saying he stood on the shoulders of giants was probably a poke at Robert Hooke, who was of short stature due in part to a spinal deformity. Newton and Hooke did _not_ get along.
