They know I'm retiring. What they don't know is that there's no rule that says I can't resign a couple weeks before I retire, and the only thing I miss out on is one paycheck, but my last check will have all my unused annual leave anyway. PLUS, I'll be burning my one week of sick leave before my last official day as well. Good thing nobody from work knows me on here.

That's okay Mikey, we all know and we'll miss your sarcastic banter around the office. Enjoy retirement.

Not worried about getting shot three days before retirement?

Aww man, I was getting short, too, four more weeks and out, now I'm gonna buy it on this rock!

I don't know half of you half as well as I should like; and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

Could’ve addressed your coworkers a long time ago and made your workplace whatever you wanted, to the best extent.

Well, I've told them I'm not terribly fond of them or the way they do things. Their typical response is to double down on what I complain about, so I'm good.

Yes, because all people who cause problems are reasonable when confronted and asked to change.

Why would your coworkers think there's a rule that you can't quit at any time?

8 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I think they just think everyone works right up until their retirement date. Like, it doesn't occur to them that people might quit before they put in for their retirement.

Hmm. I've never been through the process, so I'm a bit confused about what that means to "put in for retirement". Do you mean you told the company you're quitting on a specific day but intend to surprise it by quitting earlier? I mean, what is "retirement" other than the last day you work?

The way my retirement aystem works, I don't qualify to start getting paid my retirement checks until a specific date. If I try to start the process even a day early, I can be penalized heavily in perpetuity.

Without context, this just makes you sound like a dick.
