Hot! Hot! Hot! From the Furnace of Creation

I’m a 15 year old blacksmith and occasional knife maker. I just finished a new friction folder :)

Had some fun making a braided handled fireplace rake tonight. I followed a video by blackbearforge for the handle

I got a new 2.5 lb rounding hammer from whiskey turtle forge and I love it. He also sent me some goodies. Some stickers a bit of wrought iron and a bar of 1045. Small Viking hammer from the wrought iron with 1045 faces is on my to do list now.

It works it works! I made my first real handled hammer eye punch and it’s so much better than my old punch was.

First leaf attempt

~2lb rounding hammer

Rebar hammer eye tongs

I finally etched my first folding knife! Also my first time making Cable Damascus

3.5# Blacksmith Rounding Hammer - Hand Forged
Kinda cool

My Scrap knife. Wood was some walnut pallet wood. I think it’s a burl or something funky. Pins were cast brass sanded round and to 1/8” steel is 1095 from old Nicholson files, something similar from rasps, and 5160 leaf spring. How did I do?

Damascus seax with bronze and spalted maple

Home made rebar bottle opener

A night of small forgings. A few nails with the header I made a while back, a couple of leaves and a bottle opener

Blacksmith porn

Inspired by Torbjörn Åhman’s recent video I made rivet tools for making and using 3/8” rivets. Far from perfect but they should work. Just need to get some bar stock to test them. Heat treated and tempered to blue/purple 1” round 4140

Big ole hammer eye tongs from 1”x1/4” bar stock. Not perfect but they work so that’s good enough for me

Use Your Words

Messed up some kens custom iron bolt jaw tongs so they are now ugly but functional rr spike tongs.

Needed a hook so I smote(?) a 16d nail

Scrapmascus finished! It got dark so I took pictures inside so not great quality. Twist pattern. It was fun. For being a 15 year old and this being my hobby I don’t think I did too bad. Not perfect but not horrible

6in Chef Knife - 52100 Steel, Ebony and Maple Handle
