1983 I had a job as a Office Park parking manager. Steady turnover of parking spot rentals. All documentation had to be done in ink. Very time consuming. Took me a year to get the boss to buy PCs. Gave one to receptionist/secretary, one to main secretary, one for his desk, and and an extra for another secretary to be hired. The programs that came with the PCs were really bad and confusing. I modified them to make it fast and easy to use for their work. Then we didn't need another secretary.---->
I was given permission to use the receptionist's PC for my data entries. Brought down my work to 30 minutes a day. Something the Receptionist could handle in her spare time. We got another building to operate at this time. The also had a parking manager with more seniority. Luckily I had been bringing in fresh flowers for every ones desk from my garden. Boss asked if I had a green thumb. Got cross promote to Grounds Manager, a job I loved.
My dad worked for Digital. We had a DECMate II. There was only one game I remember playing on it, and it was entirely made up of ASCII characters. Basically a clone of the original Donkey Kong game. Barrels were "o", ladders made of "H", and your character was "g".
I'm aware, I spent more on my keycaps than I did on the keyboard. The problem I have is I'm too picky. I want spherical keycaps, double shot PBT. Used this board for years, but I just got a ZSA Moon Lander ?1
Not at all. If you're buying stuff for your personal space, then you should go with setups that fit your budget and make you happy. One of my developers has a custom keyboard that is just mini 'rubber ducks'. [He keeps a spare wireless mini keyboard tucked away for anytime someone else is at his desk and might want to type something for him...]
