How is this not more discussed? This is a massive issue.

I'm shocked it isn't more, I guess their biggest demo is now in their 20s.

A massive issue? The 13 year age limit isn't a fact of life. It's a byproduct of federal regulations. I don't inherently have a problem with snapchat being used. Especially with a reasonable amount of adult supervision.

Snapchat even has parental moderation tools.

Definitely needs explaining. What is the issue you are trying to address? Is it the fact that 2.8 million kids are in direct violation of Snapchat's terms and conditions? "1. Our Services are not directed to children under the age of 13, and you must confirm that you are 13 years or older to create an account and use the Services."

the issue is that clicking "confirm" is a confirmation that someone is over 13

the "it's ok for kids to use an app specifically designed to send nudes pictures" take is also completely wild to me. Saying the TOS says don't do it is crazy. I bet I can point at least 2.8 million accts that don't even know that. Ultimately this is a parent fail. 2.8 mil kids have bad parents. But I feel Snapchat should do more for sure.

I think you need to back up your claim about "specifically designed to send nudes". If that's true, it is HIGHLY unsuccessful seeing how "In the study, only 1.6% of respondents reported using Snapchat primarily for sexting, although 14.2% admitted to having sent sexual content via Snapchat at some point."

How many people send sexual content doesn't change the fact that the app is designed for it. I feel like it's disingenuous to ask for proof of its design when you can, just look at the app and realize that's what it's made for. Or maybe it auto deletes messages because that's just such a fun mechanic to have in an app.

And your solution is?

Just because I can't cure cancer doesn't mean I can't say it's a problem.

This isn’t cancer, this is a man made app.

The point is just because I don't have a solution doesn't mean I can't recognize a problem.

Do you use Snapchat? Do you have children? Is it a valid threat in your or your family’s life, or are you just wanting to post outrage for the sake of it? Because there’s a very simple solution to take care of this “issue” that you perceive it to be.

I never used Snapchat because I think it's a huge red flag in a relationship, easier to not use it and never be questioned on it. I have 3 siblings under 18 that I help with a lot since my mom is a single mom and my dad is a single dad
