Virtual or not - some people have way too much spare time!

Fragile? Must be Italian.

I present to you my rendition I call "USA 2025"

What a glorious render.

What a gloriously stupid comment https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YE27NWECvCY

Hey look, its our civilization

7 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

lol. Was putting logs into a wood burner stove. I had two stacks of wood. I turn to a noise and I see them both falling and crashing and I’m like “I wish I could’ve recorded that.”

This merits a “Failed successfully” comment.

Graphics on the angry birds beta look much more realistic

Useless

7 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Why you got to go and show an accurate representation of my life?

7 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Should've used some glue.

7 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I played this level of angry birds!

7 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Is this a model of the United States?

7 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I literally had a 9/11 flashback watching the last two fall.

7 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Was this the result planned? It looked like this would have far more activity for much longer, but that one upright stack up front seemed to do exactly as it was set up to do. As the first run comes around, it takes out that stack's left side support, and the stack was not centered on its base, so of course it fell over. Being big enough, it demolished that main span and the world ended spectacularly.
Although this was awesome to see anyway, the original plan must have been jaw-dropping.

My guess is this is just the end clip of a longer video. At the start you can see red dominos that appear to have already been knocked over and leading up to where this clip starts.

7 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

OMG THAT IS HOW IT WAS SUPPOSED TO GO!!!!!!!!
Damn.
That is awesome. How fun!!!!!!

Here's the full video from a different angle (found by @MeTomie in another comment tree) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YE27NWECvCY

This type of art reminds me of people who are creative on the Etch-a-sketch. You have a picture and the witness’ for your proof, that’s it.

Your work is purposefully erased in seconds.

Almost true living in the present.

Here's an extreme example: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sand_mandala

Some lovely footage in good ol' Samsara. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Md6SuPdA-mo

7 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

If you ever have a chance, watch Buddhist monks make a sand mandala. Days of work creating something beautiful just to brush it all away once they’re done. Wait, lemme find a video… Okay, found one!

I forget her name, but there's an imgurian that does etch-a-sketch art and preserves them

7 months ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

She used to have a channel on YouTube.

7 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Bad analogy. Go check out @pikajane if you want to see permanent (and amazing) Etch-o-Sketch art.

7 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

She uses a specific process to permanently preserve it. Otherwise, the art would be gone in just a few shakes.

7 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

As an Etch A Sketch preserver I approve of your analogy (totally get where you were coming from tho @TORQD!). Most of my art is actually still erased these days! I'd say at least 90%

7 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Not terribly unlike street art or edible art, tbh. There is beauty in the ephemeral.

7 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Wow - more than an hour’s work gone in just seconds!

7 months ago | Likes 489 Dislikes 69

61 minutes of hard labor gone in seconds.

7 months ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

You're not wrong it def took more than an hour

7 months ago | Likes 69 Dislikes 0

Yea at least 3 for sure

7 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

So true. There had to have been at least a dozen blocks in that set up.

It's a sim...

7 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

It wasn’t built to OSHA specs I guess.

7 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They'll just restart the AI software and make another

7 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I hope it's AI or CGI, otherwise it's so pointless

7 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 7

Would it be less pointless if it were AI or CGI? IMO, It'd be even more pointless in that case.

7 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Build it it just to demolish it? Seems pointlesss to me.

7 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

CGI Argument aside, have you never built a snowman?

7 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah, but you can enjoy a snowman for awhile. This has just collapsed in an ugly way.

7 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Sidewalk art and every domino rally is equally pointless by that metric. The short-lived nature is part of the expression. Had they not recorded it you may have a stronger point.

7 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Domino structures usually break down in a controlled way, making the sight entertaining. This has just collapsed, like a building in an earthquake.

7 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Wow, it's almost like those are in a.... Blender. ;)

7 months ago | Likes 261 Dislikes 35

I knew something didnt look right. I couldnt point out what but something about it was wrong.

7 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wait, this isn't real? How can tou tell? It's very convincing!

7 months ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 2

Apparently I can't, because it's real! Holy effing eff, what a use of time.

7 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The way pieces lose momentum on the ground so fast, and the last tower to fall, which was what tipped me off first. It does the bounce thing, goes too perfectly straight back up, and almost reaches, or does reach it's original height, which would need a firm spring to accomplish. Explaining it sounds stupid, but you can see it. Look at the guys picture with the red squares and watch those areas.

Just for my part, I wanted this to be fake so I went looking for the "fake."

7 months ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 7

You can also see the red pieces on the left pop up for a second after they fall

7 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Well, sauce was just posted and it's very real, lol.

7 months ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Thank goodness you pointed out it's fake cuz I was losing my mind at how many hours were wasted on this lol

7 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's real, sauce posted a bit below ;)

7 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

And I’m through with you

7 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This is not a simulation.

7 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

Oh, it IS a simulation, just one using the realworld physics engine that we use every day, whether we want to or not!

7 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

haha, guys someone immediately found the original video and it's quite real. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YE27NWECvCY - courtesy of @MeTomie.

Determining if something is real or just good VFX is extremely hard, and even pros can have a hard time (check out Corridor Crew sometime).

7 months ago | Likes 57 Dislikes 0

Sauce is cool, thank you! I stand corrected.

7 months ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 0

Slo-mo and simple scene fooled me too.

7 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm sure they were glad to get that room back to use again

7 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Love that they kicked that last bit at the end, very good understanding of the Internet and human nature there

7 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

i get what you're saying, but it looks damn good, physics-wise!

7 months ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 1

gawrsh, how'd you render that impression

7 months ago | Likes 55 Dislikes 5

It cuda been the optics giving that bias.

7 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I am genuinely curious if that is real or not. Most of the movement is perfect, it's just that last tower seemed to be under too much compression. There's almost nothing to give away that it's fake, other than the insane scale of it.

7 months ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

It's real.

7 months ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 3

The first vertical bit that tumbles to the left causes the horizontal bit it lands on to go BOING

7 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Yeah, but it *could* be real, because it was all built under compression. I'm 99.9% sure it's rendered, but things are getting horribly close to photorealistic now.

Pretty good. It almost looked like a reused effect. Aside from the springy bois, and the way they lose kinetic energy so fast, this is, what is this? Proof of concept? Or just someone literally playing dominoes in Boender

Ah, thanks. Also I'm an idiot and was thinking, even in blender, he just knocked it all down and will have to set it all back up! Or.... ya know. Animation and computers and such.
