As a professional author... I think this is true for most creatives. It's either the "great new idea!! (tm), no wait, that great new idea!! (also tm), or maybe even..." or it's absolute hyperfocus on that one idea that you have that JUST HAS TO GET DONE!
As someone who enjoys telling stories and dislikes the actual writing them down part, I feel this. There's so much time, energy, and effort (and talent and skill) that goes into the creative process to make a thing that six other ideas have already started screaming their needs like newborn babies before I have a single chapter down. I content myself with knowing that I will never be a 'writer', but I will always have the stories in my head to visit.
