Imagine what their prehistoric ancestors were like in the age of the dinosaurs.

Now translate it to Newf. You may have to remove all the spaces to convey the effect through text.

Except distance is also measured in time.
"How far is it to...?"
"That will take you 3 hours unless it is snowing. Then double that."

We measure driving distance in time (10 minute walk, 20 minute bike ride, 2 hr drive). The temperature thing depends on generation. my dad (boomer), body temperature and pool are F, weather in C or F, while I (X-er)do C for all three. I'll swap back and forth when measuring things though - imperial for rough measurements (framing or deck building); metric if i want accuracy in my woodworking.

Ja no, this is the same in South Africa.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Replace ya with yeah and no with nah, and it's Australia

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Deeply unserious country.

But less unserious than Australia.

Canada is also a *real* country, unlike England, so it wins there, too.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Same for Australia

My family and our parents/grandparents are from western Canada and have no idea what this is talking about. Just like the "eh" generalization; only in central/eastern Canada.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Lot of overlap with the midwest

1 year ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

how is 3 yas a no?

1 year ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

It's used dismissively or condescendingly. A guy on our crew says it all the time, and it means he's about to ignore 95% of what he's been asked to do.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

think like "yeah yeah yeah, I'll get to it"
