I wish I got to shop for clothes. I was the youngest of 3 boys. I got shoes new(ish) after a certain age cuz my feet got bigger than my older brothers.
I too am the youngest of 3 boys and suffered through many hand-me-downs. The clothes shopping in itself wasn't so much the issue; it was my mother. I swear it was her chief goal in life to embarrass me in every store and with every piece of clothing I had to try on. I think that's why I detest shopping for clothes to this day.

I loved picking out my school shit. That wasn't a task I could leave to Mom.

This was fine. What I dreaded was shopping for school clothes.

I loved getting all the gadgets and new notebooks until I didn’t - sometime around 8th grade. School clothes were everyday clothes.
