Consider looking into bankruptcy if you own the house but may be getting ready for foreclosure. It saved our home.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I've seen my plane crash several times in this lifetime. Somehow you will find a way as I did.

Dial 211 in the USA to find available local resources. Also, People to People Ministries, Salvation Army for food or a meal. Helped at a homeless breakfast some time ago, and the food was for whoever showed up and was hungry, especially at the end of the month. Cheaper food options are beans and rice, marked down grocery items.

What can you do for work? Can you emigrate? We are lacking vonstruction workers

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You didn’t fail, and you and your family are not alone in your situation. This country has failed you and everyone else who is working and still can’t make a living. Hang in there.

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

The country failed you, as it's failing all of us. Keep at it old sport.

2 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 3

There are lots of programs out there to help, brother. https://usafundinga">g/v9/">https://usafundingapplications.org/v9/ or https://www.vetassist.org/ for starts. You just have to be willing to ask for help. There’s no shame in struggling, the real shame is in keeping it to yourself until it’s too late to get help.

2 years ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 0

Yep. Listen to this guy @Op

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Your Mission isn't a house, it's a family, and if you are putting your efforts into keeping them as safe as you can with the gear you have, you are still Mission Green.

2 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

You have NOT failed your family sir, no.

Go to https://www.feedingamerica.org/find-your-local-foodbank to find a food bank in your area. US only.

You didn't fail your family. Capitalism victimized them.

2 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 2

Had to double check you're not my husband. He's been on short term disability with a service related injury and the freaking financial company can't get their shit together so we're behind on the mortgage and every other bill. And no temp 100% disability until AFTER surgery. So helpful VA.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

And I've got $23k in farm bills so I'm zero help. It's been three months and he can't do even the bare minimum so I've been running the entire business by myself, cooking every single meal, parenting, keeping the house. We've had both vehicles totalled this summer, just absolutely nothing has gone right. We are so insanely stressed.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I think you might need to make your own I Need Help post on Imgur.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I appreciate it, but we'll make it. It's super stressful, but between the farm and my veggie garden so we will never go hungry. The mortgage company is being cooler than they need to be. Our family lent us money for new (to us) vehicles. I'm just waiting on a $10k invoice to be paid so I can pay farm bills. Just too much waiting. But thank you.

Can I get VA financial counseling to help avoid foreclosure?

If you’re a Veteran or the surviving spouse of a Veteran, we’ll provide financial counseling—even if your loan isn’t a VA direct or VA-backed loan.

You can find your local/state/federal elected officials and their contact info here: https://www.usa.gov/elected-officials Please do tell them how fucking unacceptable this is, along with any and all other issues you care about. Voting need not to be the end of your political engagement!

+1 Your update is Wonderful. Thank you for doing due-diligence and then following up with other people who might also share it. Perhaps this is a project that the Imgur community could potentially help with? Maybe we could Make a site that provides information and resources to those who need it. Without a skimmer. I need more time to do all thing things that need doing. This is getting me thinking. Let’s make some light. Thank you again.

Look into bankruptcy. It can absolutely help.

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

This: Bankruptcy is not a sign of failure nor is it malingering. I felt that way until I went through with it. Read through the Bankruptcy information on your state gov't web sites and determine if filing pro se is possible and if it might affect your case to hire someone to file for you. If you file pro se, carefully read through the instructions and include everything they expect. Read through the exceptions you're allowed to take and list the section of the code for them with the items.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Double and triple-check every form and have your partner review the list of forms that are required for submission. If you are missing any forms at all your submission will be incomplete and won't be allowed to proceed. Get time-sensitive tasks done as early as possible so there is time to correct any mistakes.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That’s extremely helpful, I’ve considered it but wasn’t entirely sure how much it could help in this situation. I will look into it further but knowing how important it is to fill out everything with extreme certainty is essential is great to know it I go that route l! You guys are amazing

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Go to codeofvets.com. I personally know a vet who got help. He said he had to send some proof of his service and something to verify he was who he was (vague because of my memory). He has since paid it back and forward.

2 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Thank you so much I will definitely look into this!

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Oh, and he sent those electronically, just to be clear. No waiting on the mail or whatever.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

wait you guys have homes????

Go to paypal.com/paypalme/ and make an account there. Then post the text of your paypal.me link here (no https://). Donations have no fees.

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 2

@springfieldspartans created it so I can donate to those in similar situations

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Named it after my daughters soccer team its my first year coaching. 2-0 so far

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I think you may have the wrong idea about a paypal.me address. It's for receiving fee-free donations, not giving them to others.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thank you so much for sharing this link so I can share it with those in need

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I’m honestly in tears with all of your comments!! The amount of websites and resources and kind words you all have sent is amazing!! You can always expect the internet to shit on you! But you have all shown me love, support, and ways to help. And I’m actively looking into all of them. THANK YOU!!!!

2 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

VA has counseling and resources available. It can be complex, but send me a DM if you need help navigating their sites. Do you have a VA home loan?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yes

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Then definitely talk to a financial counselor about it. There may be something they can do to give you a reprieve without losing your home

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You got this. Don't give up.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Thank you!!

Fallingfruit.org if you're food insecure. Not a silver bullet but others have also already linked foodbank n whatnot. Its decently supplemental depend on the area.

This is excellent

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Being put in situation where you cant keep a house while working full time doesnt make you a failure, it makes your government a failure.

2 years ago | Likes 1084 Dislikes 3

I'm barely keeping it together. At this point, I just wish for $13000 lottery so I can pay off the most important debt and just try to live off ramen till the US collapses.

2 years ago | Likes 44 Dislikes 0

Or it means you’ve taken on way too much debt and need a lesson on financial management. Even high income earners lose their homes when they take on too much debt to fund their lifestyle.

2 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 97

Ha, I can't afford shit, don't have TV, any of that. Yea, give me a lesson. I'm sure it'll help make life more affordable. I budget as hard as I can to make sure we have a roof, power, and food.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is what the employers say as they offer financial classes to their employees that they don’t pay a living wage and pretend employee budgeting is the problem. Lol then think they can buy a pizza for your staff one day to fix everything.

2 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 1

I also love the lifestyle of not being homeless /s.

2 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

You can't budget your way out of a systemic problem, champ. Being poor is fucking expensive.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Username checks out. Ayn Rand is bad and you should feel bad.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

No where in the post says he has debt. Maybe it’s our country that failed him like many other veterans it continues to fail

2 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

a mortgage is debt. It is possible he purchased a home he cannot afford. The problem is, seeing as rent is insane, home prices are insane and interest rates are also high, he won't make out any better selling and getting a "cheaper" home, they don't exist unless you want to buy a complete junker for 3x it's value. America loves to just complete shit on it's poor. It's make it or break it at it's finest/worst?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That’s very true

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No, as someone from Europe i confirm the US is a capitaslitic abusive shithole where you apparently are brainwashed tp tie you're Selfwörth to your income. Here we work to live and never the other way around - and we ever can get rid of work entirely i say GOOD

2 years ago | Likes 62 Dislikes 1

Oh come on, I mean I’m also European, have a good paying job and I’m happy to live here, but it’s not a utopia to live in. Losing your house is still possible when you cannot afford it.

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

He never claimed it was a utopia. But compared to the US even the worst of the EU looks like heaven.

2 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 2

I used it as a hyperbole linked to the possibility of losing your home. It’s not like that cannot happen in Europe as well under various circumstances.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thanks, exactly

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

No, the country you fought for failed you and your family.

We can even narrow it down further: the RepubliKKKans, who claim to be for the veterans, failed you.

I wish I could say something along the lines of "now, here is what you can do ..."

thats just oligarchy with a new name. same shit dif currency.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

All of this. Entirely.

2 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

100% percent disabled with 1 kid and a spouse is taking in about $50k and it’s not taxed at all and the vet gets free healthcare. That’s equivalent to a taxed salary over $80k, and that’s before their salary for their current job. Just because this person can’t live within their budget, doesn’t mean anyone failed them. They’re an adult and can take some responsibility. https://www.va.gov/disability/compensation-rates/veteran-rates/

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 30

Wow, so many assumptions right there

2 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

smells alot like "fuck em im getting mine" wonder if they own any red hats....

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

No red hats here. Strong proponent that all US citizens should have equal opportunities as veterans and Europeans such as accessible college education, housing, and healthcare. That being said no matter where you live sometimes one has to downsize to a more affordable lifestyle.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Depending on where you live, that's not a lot at all. https://livingwage.mit.edu/metros/41860

2 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Eh. As someone who calls a lt colonel by his first name and works with a colonel. Worked at the pentagon and the not so secret underground pentagon, norad, and secdefs plane, OP fought and this country failed OP but they didn't fight for this country. They fought for the money, people and companies that control this country. The same that have failed every citizen.

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

right.. people forget cause we are so propaganda fed growing up that for like every 1 person that wants to fight and protect the country there is probably 10 that signed up just cause they didnt have a better option right out of school... and yeah i just made the numbers up but im probably on the right track seeing as i swear most vets i meet dont seem as loving of the country as i was told they are or have troubled pasts and well had nothing better going on so why not join the military lol

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

well other than than 1 for every 10 is probably way to generous for amount of people that do it for more than just the benifits, tho who knows as i said we are brainwashed to love the military for one reason or another, hell some might think the pay is good AND its their duty

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

True and even defending or protecting our country is horseshit. The one out of x thinks they are defending us but nobody is attacking us. Fighting to make sure the "economy" stays stable. Rich people aren't allowed to lose money and we'll kill anyone who is living peacefully near whoever likes unions

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

10000x this. If you can't afford to support your verterans, you can't afford to go to war.

2 years ago | Likes 295 Dislikes 0

And just to clarify, I'm not shitting on you, I realize it could sound like that. I agree with you. I'm just clarifying that affording it is not the problem, and I'm fucking pissed about it.

2 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 0

Totally agree my friend.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And yet, the defense budget is over $2 trillion... But yeah, we can't "afford" to support our vets. Nah, we REFUSE to support our vets. You can find and contact your local/state/federal elected officials and their contact info here: https://www.usa.gov/elected-officials

2 years ago | Likes 78 Dislikes 0

2 years ago | Likes 88 Dislikes 6

Yep, so in other words, the government.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

... fair.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

* The government that subcontracted you to the industrial complex

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Yep so in other words, the government that actively encourages the privatisation of war.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Disabled Vet here too, I have seen one in the chat but there are other places to receive aid. And it’s not a handout you fucking earned this shit so apply for everything. DM me if you need to chat brother I’ll even send you my cell number to call. Your a fighter so let’s fucking fight!

2 years ago | Likes 74 Dislikes 0

Yes on this! Every county veteran's advocate I've met said too many vets don't want to make use of what they've earned because they don't want to take anything away from others who may need it (even though they need it) or they just don't know what's available. If you served, you earned, and there should be plenty to go around.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Hey brother I may take you up on that offer no joke thank you so much for the offer and your service i was in Iraq in 06 and 08

2 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

Have you used your GI Bill yet?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The VA in your state may have a similar program it is not advertised, We used it a few years ago and got a clean slate. https://dvs.ohio.gov/what-we-do/find-a-cvso/find-a-cvso

2 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

05-06 and 07-09 both Iraq, don’t hesitate to reach out.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

As a fellow disabled vet if you don’t have a rating that’s your first move. Id probably be homeless without it

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

No joke, this is important. I'm 80% and the disability covers the cost of my monthly mortgage. I am safe in the knowledge that if I wake up without a job tomorrow, my family still has a roof and a bed and I would just need to go find food. Go do this so that we can git you covered and safe too. Most people who work the disability ratings maze are vets like us that are trying to shoulder carry our brothers and sisters who are down like you.
