I don't know anything else about your game but just some general advice: Playtest the basic gameplay in a simple prototype first before designing & polishing. If it's not fun to play with simple squares and circles throw it out and start again. Fail faster is the motto of the succesful game designer. If it seems like it might be fun to play, tweak until it works. If it's fun to play with just basic shapes, that's when you start designing and make it awesome.

Thanks for the advice. We actually are currently having a closed alpha on Steam, and are sort of already 2 years in so if it isn't fun to play now we've got a problem lol
