1 was special in 2007. Not a great movie but like Jurassic Park seeing our beloved childhood characters brought to life was awesome. After you prove you can make them look good, you have to actually follow up with good story. Jurassic Park is in the same situation

Transformers 1 was beautiful? The design of the Autobots were just bad at best and the Decepitcons were visual sludge.

This. There were fights going on where I could not tell which rapidly moving pile of random spikey silver metal bits was part of which character. You literally couldn't tell where one robot ended and another ended at times.
