Also a geologist here, my first guess is granite based on k-feldspar and what looks to be biotite, but I'm probably wrong

Love and mkss you to brother. Are you going to be able catch the eclipse? I'm going with my mom to watch from a hot springs with morning coffee. And just found report of opals nearby the hot springs @MamaSharkOoOo I'll definitely report back any finds!

I was at work when the eclipse happened. My boss came up to my register, looked outside and asked me why it was darker. It was a neat moment. The effect wasn't as intense here but it was fun poking a pin prick in paper and showing them the crescent shape on another piece of paper.
