The tape probably suffers from 'bit rot', loss of data. Also check the capacitors on the Mobo.

There's a YT channel that does a lot with restoring tape devices. You might want to look for that. Forgot what it's called or I'd link it.

It's a tape based computer I think, not an audio cassette.

you would need a computer controlled tape spooler for a tape based stack. this is just playing.

Wait, you don't think I think he's trying to play music do you? The programs are available as MP3s or as code you can "compile" yourself.

with a code to audio compiler. It's all out there, I don't know this particular machine, but my first was a ZX, Then a Vic-20.
