Trunk Restoration Update!

Nov 5, 2021 6:06 PM

A reminder of where we started..

Removed the white Bailey, but wanted to keep the red writing, and looked up the names, which you will see below!

Buckles and metal really came up well on the front. And after a clean, I used leather feed to treat the leather panels

Sadly, no junk (or treasure!) In the trunk... Just mould and a smell like a thousand captured duvet farts

Actually removed the lining in the lower part of trunk and will replace. But kept the original top as a bit more ornate, and have the JR Hughes manufacturing label (as well as brass plate on top)

Cool to find out that it's been to Canada, eh?

A quick search for the works "Moose Jaw, Sasks, Harwood Hotel" found a but about where it's been to! Aside from its origin in Ohio, and me picking it up in London. Still more to do! Will treat leather with colour restore, and finish the side and bottom metal buckles. Will post once finished!

What did you use on the metal work to clean them up?

Well, the Connelly Hide care was £20. I already owned the drill wire brush attachments from another job, the were £12.99 for a set of 6 1/?

And the black and dark brown leather colour restore were £6 each. So, £45 all in 2/2

I lied....I also used Danish oil on the inside wooden panels of the trunk to treat the wood. Also made it smell piney! £10, used v-little
