Absolutely not. If I am playing a game and playing a whole level of asteroid is required to open each chest... nope. One time as a gimmick opening a specific chest where there is a story or something, sure. Every chest? I would get a refund for the game at that point.

I think 20% of the chests will be hackable (mini-game), the rest will either just open or be closed differently.

Yes, there are a lot of chests in the game, BUT... The player does not have to play a mini-game all the time. It all depends on the hacking skill.

It is an action adventure about androids with an emphasis on developing a relationship with your partner Rika.

Something I realized playing Mass Effect and similar games: Minigames you expect players to do a lot to e.g. unlock chests need to be _quick_. It's going up by less than 1% per second, so you're looking at two minutes for every chest?

The more skill you have in hacking, the less you need to play. There's a percentage chance to hack without a minigame.

But before you have that skill level, it would kill the pacing of any action-filled areas to have to do this every time you come across a chest.

There are many nuances. Not all chests need to be hacked. Most chests will be easy, which means hacking will be faster. The difficulty of the chest will determine the difficulty and time of the mini-game.
