I went there on a road trip a month back, it's everything you would expect it to me. It had two custom channels stuck on IT 2, and The Shining on an endless loop and there were claw marks on the inside of the bathroom door, rat shit in the closet and an open electric box. Loved the place, great pizza down the road! Did some cool paintings.
Until your truck decides for you at 2am, you mysteriously have no cell or radio signal, a dense fog sets in and the only place with someone at the counter to ask for help is the clown motel.
I'm on mobile and can't get a link to it but. I highly recommend "The boys" video on this motel. Some of it seems staged but their other haunted location visits are just as good if not convincing.
I was there quite some time ago, and the price was comparable to Motel 6 and such. I did not even know it was anything special, I was just driving, it was late, I stopped at a first place on a way. Only in the morning I discovered the cemetery.
tonopah is such a weird town to drive through. the highway that cuts through town has that old west narrow street vibe, and it's the oldest town you drive through going south so it just feels out of place after you pass the truck stops. really sweet people running that motel, though.
this feels like the oposite of the ley lines theory. like a clown motel next to a graveyard, out in the desert, sounds like a terrible location for your desired demographic. then again, I have seen what some of the rooms look like. some rooms are friendly, while others are definitely "Murder Clown" themed.
There is lots of great desert to explore around Tonopah. I also work in old Nevada towns a lot (geologic engineer that cleans up pollution). I haven't stayed there, I prefer the "haunted" hotel dowm the street.
Ha- define ‘normal’. I ended up doing two weeks alone in the US because things went pear shaped. Best time I ever had;) Isolated clown motel? Bring it on;)
Not that I've heard, it's pretty new motel compared to the old mining town. The Mitzpah Hotel is quite famous for being haunted by a lady ghost. It was a luxury hotel in the heyday of Tonopah
Mom graduated from the high school there in Tonopah, and she's told multiple stories about Mitzpah Hotel and a bunch of other weird shit that happened there.
The cemetary is by the clown motel, but they aren't related, idk I don't believe in ghosts so don't really pay attention. I love old cemeteries. I even lived on same property as one for a while and next to another. Never saw any ghosts
Supposedly there was a woman who was murdered on the 5th floor in the early 1900’s. The story is that she was a popular sex worker at the time, and one of her jealous lovers stabbed her to death. Rooms 502-504 used to be one big room, and that’s where her ghost likes to chill. Allegedly.
Not much on history? It was one of the richest mining districts in the US, and it reflected that. It had lots of entertainment (fancy opera houses etc.), saloons, and nice hotels. Howard Hughs, one of the richest men in the world chose to get married there
More a comment on the current state of the town, circa 2015 or so. To be fair, it was never more than a stop on the way to Reno, never gave it more@of a chance than I did Ely

SOMEONE has to link Clownvis' Clown Motel. And if no one else will do it, then I'll do it myself. https://youtu.be/94yNdFq3iSA

We have all these radioactive clown figurines that we just can't seem to get off our hands.

Reminds me of Robert Novak, that ghoulish clown-looking bastard

As a truck driver, I have passed by there many times. And I will continue to do so. Pass by. Never stop. Never.
tonedeff
Sounds like from dusk til dawn situation.

That's the knob. His knob. You crank it.

That's how you get off
StevieTheAussie
I think that is his cock.
xtav
Not a spout -- a handle. It's how you turn it on.
zackingsman
Does it get turned on by every naked person that walks in?
MrsConnorMcManus
this is way funnier if you sub in the words my family uses. My son calls them birthday monsters, and my husband calls them collection of dead people

Isn't that the site of a Rob Zombie film?

Friendly reminder that people have fucked in there.
EndofDaisies
A lot of people have a lot of fucked in there. And in the motel, too, probably.
TektronixTDS360
Can anyone stay there or is it restricted to practitioners of the clowning arts?

It is not that isolated, it is right on the road though the town. It is a pretty cool place to stay if you are ok with low end motels.
bob2the2nd24
tye problem is they charge like its a regular hotel, not a low end Motel
ataradov

It looks like themed rooms are expensive, but regular motel rooms are fine. I guess if you are going for the theme, you need to pay more.

DaCareBearStare
How are the rooms? Are they creepy with clowns painted on the ceiling staring down at you? Is it seedy?
isetprettygirlsonfire
Never stayed there, I usually stay hat the haunted victorian era Mitzpah Hotel down the road a bit. It looks like a 1960s era motel
HeadJamistan
Last visit? Like....... more than one? Voluntarily?

More haunted than a graveyard-adjacent clown motel?
isetprettygirlsonfire
Victorian murdered ladies make the best ghosts
BlindMeach
Did you feel isolated?
isetprettygirlsonfire
No, it's in town, a small nevada town, but I'm used to travelling along across nevada.
BlindMeach
Ah sorry- it was the op’s isolation comment I was referring to:)
BlindMeach
I liked the pics btw
isetprettygirlsonfire
Ah, most people would probably feel isolated there though. I'm not normal LOL

Sounds like something a serial killer would say
isetprettygirlsonfire
Don't forget its just down the street from a Haunted Hotel (where I usually stay in Tonopah)
wrinklyflute
I stayed there once with my hubs! We rented the room with the wagon bed lol.

Many paranormal groups have gone there. I think it’s because of the close proximity to the cemetery that there has been activity
isetprettygirlsonfire
