I really believe that horseshoe theory is a misrepresentation of this. It's not that both sides naturally converge as their ideologies become more radical, but that extremist ideas that require rejecting reality are all going to end up in the same delusional space. If there is no objective truth, then you don't recognize when things are contradictory or incompatible with each other and can happily join up with every other crank in the cognitive dissonance bubble.
The best thing my parents did when I told them I was transitioning was immediately adopt a 'this is happening, so how do we help' mentality. I'm sure they worried and questioned it in private, but to my face they were nothing but supportive. It's a big change; so is having a baby or losing a leg. You just need to find that 'this is how it is' headspace and figure out now being parent to a daughter and a trans child.
Should tattoo them the way we do neutered dogs.
Prep for HIV. DoxyPrep for syphilis, gonorrhea, and chlamydia. vaccine for HPV. Ask your doctor today and no longer rely exclusively on a compliant partner to protect your sexual health.
I'm sorry your ancestors didn't have the sense to put pickled cabbage in/on other things to make them tasty like almost every other culture on earth. Also it's still a slur even if you try and hide it in a neologism.
Sure, but since there is literally no fucking garnish/sidedish on the planet that some fucking pedant like you wont seize on as something occasionally consumed just on it's own, I'm limited in what comparisons I can use to explain how caviar is typically eaten to the person explicitly asking how caviar is typically eaten.
So you're telling me the guy who claims Israel and it's supporters have a dominant trait of sociopathy, like there's some sociopath DNA that certain gene pools carry around, is a Nazi? Hmmm...
Because he's using medical/scientific language to give his opinion a veneer of legitimacy and objective realism it otherwise doesn't have. He doesn't say Israel and it's supporters are sociopathic. He says they have the dominant trait of sociopathy, like it's genetic. It's inherently manipulative language and that's always a red flag.
I think Carr is genuinely at his best as a host, particularly of the panel shows with other comedians. His real talent his wit and how fast he is, and wrangling a bunch of other more creative comics lets him do that while also getting ragged on constantly by funnier people.
True, but I think that's part of the balancing I was talking about. Passing because of a good sign is taking aim at his own tastes, so it's not just a list of all the problems he has with women.
I mean, same. And I'm sure there are die-hard caviar fans that just eat it plain for the same reason, but nothing about the preening cock above gives the vibe of someone who just loves caviar so much he doesn't give a fuck how he looks scarfing it down. Just the opposite actually...
Nope. Each season is just the same characters existing in a different point in British history, with no story continuity between them.
Sigh, all that really means is most nations weren't dependent on the particular model of chattel slavery practiced in the US/other ex-colonial states, and so had no serious investment in maintaining that institution. But there are countless other models of unfree labor employed across the world that remain in place.
They pretty much all are, it's just they're a mix of stuff that signals incompatibility, like astrology or morning routines, and stuff that's more of a red flag like the ex or mean best friend. It's well-balanced and that's why it works where a lot of similar jokes fail.
I've been having this response to getting ads on streaming services. My tolerance for them is just gone. Though I have been working on it for the free services like Tubi where the ads are reasonable amounts/lengths and don't make the video crash or freeze, which is what broke me on YouTube.
It started doing that to me right after I got one of those 'don't use adblockers' pop ups, so I knew that's why it was happening. But I also had a good laugh at it. Oh no, not a 20sec delay! I totally didn't sit through 5, 10, 30min delays back when you started, Youtube.
There's no way the vast majority of us have mastered both systems. But have a good working understanding of the different units and approximations for the most common amounts, yes.
As someone in the biz, the real 'lifestyle issue' was likely just being college kids. A lot of landlords, especially older ones, hate renting to college kids and justfy it with absurd respectability standards. Personally, I love renring to college/grad students because they self-recruit new tenants. Every few years, someone moves on, the remaining friend takes over the lease, and moves a new friend in.
You're supposed to put it on something else like a condiment or garnish. This is the equivalent of eating sauerkraut with a spoon.
'Must be eaten like so' rules are mostly bullshit, but 'it's better if you do it this way' suggestions can often be really valuable, and treat cavier like a seasoning/condiment rather than a staple food is one of them. You can eat table salt with a spoon, too, if you want, but its going to be better on something.
It's not weird if you think about it. An influencer is basically a freelance product model, which means they have to supply all their own gear. Their sponsors aren't booking a studio and a photographer for them; they have to do that. And so there's a lot of motivation to cut corners and do stuff as cheaply as you can which results in a lot of poor behavior like say... exploiting people's unwillingness to ruin a photoshoot to monopolize a public pool for your workday.
They also practice a deeply patriarchal religion that encourages a culture of silence around sexual predation in order to protect the authority of those in power.https://www.vice.com/en/article/the-ultra-orthodox-jewish-communitys-sex-abuse-crisis-has-finally-reached-a-tipping-point/ Christianity is more common, but it's not even remotely special when it comes to this shit.
A lot of things are fanfiction, and that's ok because that's how stories ultimately survive and get passed on. The problem with Cruella is that there's no way to make her a good guy, and Disney didn't have the option of making it dark enough for her to be enjoyable as a bad guy.
Excellent. My plans to ditch my fucking smart tv grow ever closer... Thanks for the advice.
How is it for just running a browser to watch streaming services on?
The nuance to this is that we all have impulses and invasive thoughts, and how a person regulates those is also part of their personality. A person doing or saying something kind of shitty while drunk doesn't mean they're a shitty person. Refusing to accept responsibility for it and/or being dismissive of the harm done, and then continuing to engage in bad behavior does.
You just let that "trying to be inclusive made this scene bad" hang there without context or elaboration. That post is pretty much indistinguishable from what bigots say on the matter. And you'd think that might bother you, but my guess is you don't really pay that much attention to what anyone else says about anything. 2/2
"It felt entirely forced and soulless and done explicitly so they could be like "hey look were being inclusive". Right here where you make Disney's entire motivation for a bad scene trying to be inclusive. You don't connect the dots on how it's Disney attempt to exploit the desperation marginalized groups have for any kind of representation with low-effort products. 1/2
It's a clip from Stroker Ace, so not AI generated. I think it's just degraded; reminds me of a lot of movie clips that circulated the internet 20 years ago when people just ripped them off cheap dvds and uploaded as is.
Elvira, Mistress of the Dark is worth a watch if you're into silly, campy movies at all. Also if you're into tits I guess.
